Stress can really do a number on your nerves and greatly impact the Immune System. I'll let you in on a little secret, the body is fully connected, and no matter how many systems we split our tissues and organs into they're still going to overlap and interweave. Basically when we're stressed out, our immunity is effected negatively, and there's a lot to be freaked out & stressed about right now. Luckily there are some herbs for that, and some simple things we can all do to better support our nervous little nerves. From getting out in nature & taking walks, to drinking a soothing cup of tea, to laughing hard, and feeling compassion & gratitude, there are so many ways that we can positively support our Nervous Systems. A fair amount of stress is caused by being stuck in our heads, and letting our minds get away from us. It's important to drop down into the heart, and it sounds kind of simple but it is actually really really profound. Dropping down into the heart reminds us of our connection to everything, allows us to feel pain and sadness in a way that allows those emotions to move and shift, and can snap you right out of anxious feelings or worried thoughts. One of my favorite herbs for getting into that heart space is Rose. When I smell or taste Rose I immediately start to feel a melting and easing sensation in my body. My shoulders relax, my heart opens and my stomach unclenches. I'm in the present moment taking deep breaths and feeling the supportive strength that Rose carries. I also Love Nettle for the Nervous System and times of stress. Nettle is so nutrient rich, and it has so many vitamins and minerals that it's sometimes called the seaweed of plants. Which is great for the nervous system because the more stressed we are the more the nerves call for and need vitamins and minerals to keep functioning. It also supports the body on a very deep level and gives steady and sustained energy over time. One cannot talk about the nervous system without talking about Oats. From oatmeal to Milky Oat Tops, all forms of Avena sativa are a balm to the nerves. This herb is for the overworked, overtired & overstimulated. Soothing, nourishing and supporting the nervous system on a deep level.
