Sleep is so very important for so many things! When we're stressed, scared or anxious, sleep is one of our greatest allies, but sometimes with all that's going a goodnights sleep, can be just out of reach. If you're having trouble getting to sleep it might be a good idea to look deeper into sleep hygiene. Getting to bed at a consistent time, sleeping in a dark room, limiting screen time & winding down two hours before bed are all part of a good sleep routine. Especially right now it can be really easy to load up on the latest facts and news on the Coronavirus right before bed, but what about replacing that urge with reading your favorite book and drinking a soothing cuppa herbal tea? Sounds a little more calming doesn't it? Chamomile is such a great herb for supporting this process of winding down. It's great at just turning the nervous system down a few notches and getting you ready to sleep. But sometimes even if we do all the right things, we get into bed and turn out the light, ready to drift off to the dreamworld, and our mind just won't stop. It won't turn off. It won't stop going round and round in circles almost letting you drift off... but then just on the edge of succumbing to sleep it catches your attention, and starts the whole process over again. This is when I turn to California Poppy & Passionflower, these two herbs are so good at patting the mind on it's little overtired head and saying "there there that's enough now, GO TO BED" breaking that cycle and finally allowing you to fully drift off to sleep.
